Now, a Simple Truth Can Liberate You

January 27, 2011 By Alex Gellman

At this point, more than 3 weeks into the New Year, we know by statistics that a good percentage of well intentioned resolutions have gone by the wayside. If you are feeling like “just another statistic”, self recriminations about being “weak willed” or having an “addictive personality” in addition to not being helpful may also be completely false.

The simple truth is that old emotional wounds and traumas can sap our spirit and prevent us from taking action in our lives. The simple truth is that the burden of old wounds from the past that have never been addressed let alone resolved, can cause numbness and “automatic pilot” behaviour. And yes, though years may have passed since a traumatic event, the subconscious mind does not necessarily acknowledge time in the linear sense and so does not necessarily heal itself. For that matter, neither does conscious memory. Just think how we can all summon with clarity, a recollection from ten years ago, or from our teen years or even childhood, but not remember what we had for lunch yesterday, or  what we did most of last Tuesday. Also, the energy required to quell an unpleasant memory is a drain on the energy required for day to day existence, not to mention a drain on the energy required for improvement and personal growth.

I can attest to this phenomenon myself, as some years ago I found myself alternately feeling numb, then sad, then enraged, but ultimately, I felt stalled. I was in denial of grief that resulted from a series of losses. My father, mother and brother all passed away in quick succession, I got divorced and suffered a job loss.

Suffice to say that with guidance from skilled professionals, and caring friends and associates, I was able to access inner resources, to cope, revitalize and liberate myself from emotional bondage.

Liberate yourself: take time to get in touch with your feelings. Let your dreams speak to you about what is going on in the subconscious. And seek allies — we’re out here.

Wishing you healing of your wounds and the strength to transform them into positive energy!
